Sounds like a good B&G topic…something worthwhile for a change

I might recommend a review of 14.E.10, then the Bid Postings for 21-102, 21-101, and 20-101.

I may be looking at this completely wrong, but there were 355 combined vacancies on those 3 bids and we’ve had 346 new hires since 8/2020. So just 9 left?

Not exactly.

Per 14.E.10, vacancies generated by a bid have to be filled within 18 months or they expire. Vacancies that remain aren't obligated to be made available on a subsequent bid; they still exist alongside vacancies generated by a subsequent bid.

Bottom line: basic math says a vacancy bid is coming soon if hiring is to continue as rumored, but not necessarily required prior to an October class.

So…How many more new hire slots are available? We all are assuming this is being tracked by the union. However, the number hasn’t been shared publicly or in union communications , that I know of.

It's a big deal, and an At-Large tracked it in the past. UPS arbitrarily adding crewmembers to the bottom of the F/S/D that is short is a trick they have pulled in the past and we have language to support that those positions will be made available to seniority crewmembers before they are assigned to new hires. I think we are entitled to have a scorecard of that information available, at least on the secure IPA website.

Which part?...I see no evidence anyone has talked to the union about this.
