can someone answer this. I have 12/14 class date.

Class date start Monday and Tuesday? Or Tuesday or Wednesday? When do you bid for base and equipment? I’d like SDF but sounds like high chance if I’m on heavy class to get ANC

Most of this year (Feb on) the heavy classes have started on Tuesday and the 75 and Bus classes have started on Wednesday's. I would say that you are in a heavy class. You will get an email a few days prior to class that has the available equipment/bases and be asked to rank them in order of preference. You'll find out on day one of Indoc what was awarded.
Congrats

Can any new hires or recent applicants answer this. I have a friend who just completed an application and at the top of the main page it says “job offer 100%”. The app is not locked yet and has all green thumbs up. I don’t remember seeing this when I was applying.

Thanks in advance.

Thumbs up is normal when you completed the app. If the app is locked it shows a lock icon.

thanks Whale. I’m more referring to the “100% job offer”. Have you seen this?

Yes, I have heard that some people get that or application completed.

Ok thanks. He also got an email confirming the fact that he applied which I also don’t remember getting. Maybe the magic 8 ball is already spinning in his favor? Who knows with this place.

What are the chances of getting MD in SDF on a heavy class? Or SDF on 747?

it depends on what's offered but my bookie says 20% and 0%

Chances increase with age

As a reference. 2 years ago one of my buds lived just outside of Louisville. He was 43 and was one of the younger guys in class. He got stuck in Ontario. This was on the 75 though.

If you’re in the class, you’ll get an email a few days prior to start with your choices and you’ll create a preference list. Aircraft and domiciles are based on age within the class, oldest most senior. Until then, I’m guessing everyone will remain in the dark. Official drops will be announced day one (usually).

I am trying to find the best way to get to ANC, I live in the northeast with plenty of options around me to get to SDF. When I pull up the IPA Jumpseat page however I can see no direct flights listed from SDF to ANC. When I pull up flightaware however I see a bunch? What am I missing..

Is there a secret for getting ANC to pull up? I can do SDF-ANY and see all flight out of SDF on a given day. When I pull up ANC-ANY, SDF-ANC, or ANC-SDF I see nothing. Tried multiple dates as well.

If you're looking to jumpseat. I would call the number and get the flight info.

JohnRalpio 10-21-2021 11:39 AM

The offline jumpseat site for non employees considers Anc international and jumpseaters are not allowed on “international” flights. Best to just call the jumpseat desk.

FTv3 10-21-2021 11:55 AM

Weekdays: In a nutshell there are 4 flights that leave around 4am and 3 that leave at 5 pm. These are usually 74s and MDs. There is an additional option that 2 legs it through RFD and that leaves SDF at 1 am.

How does UPS decide who is in the MD-11/747 class and who is in the 757/767/A300 class?

Sorry if I missed it elswhere.

Theoretically, only folks with prior “heavy” experience will get into a MD11/747 class. Everyone else lands in the “light” twin class. Supposedly, this is a result of some RJ guys struggling with the MD/74. In my class, prior to this being implemented the RJ guys did just fine, so YMMV. Of course, no one in my class got into a fist fight with their training partner, told the captain to wait while they accepted a phone call at the hold short line, or demonstrated an inability to land a large jet. So maybe we were all exceptional.:D
