They always offer it but…UPS has indicated that they may actually award some next bid period.

Voluntary Incentivized Time Off
UPS notified the Executive Board today that due to First Officer positions realigned in Realignment Bid 23- 101 who have not yet trained into new positions, they will accept limited Article 13.D.13 Voluntary Leaves of Absence (VLOA) and/or Reduced Guarantee Lines (RDG) for Bid Period 2303. Expect these temporary and voluntary RDG lines and VLOA to be offered to FOs in domiciles affected by the recent realignment bid.

Crewmembers may opt for Voluntary Incentivized Time-Off Programs through Monday, Feb. 13th . The programs will be awarded to crewmembers based on availability in fleet and seat in seniority order, but the Company is not obligated to award VLOA/RDG requests.

Im curious to see how many awards are made and to which fleets. It’s a great time to be on reserve! I may go non current for landings for the first time since I’ve been here.

what’s the incentivized part of it?
I was hoping it would be paid time off, wishful thinking.

It also paints a much clearer picture of the consumer preferences over these past few years. Never discount the average consumer, marketing strategy and overall performance of the services provided. Just because something may be cheaper (not saying FedEx is, although it is for me with benefits yet I do not use them and stick with Brown or even USPS to my own dismay) definitely doesn’t mean it’s better and consumers will pay not to be disappointed time and time again. Performance is everything in our world, no free trophies.
