Q1 earning call

I would imagine 6 classes of 30 and then we are done hiring for the next few years. As 20% of our fleet gets parked, they will let attrition take it's place to keep the staffing numbers in-line. There has always been a disconnect between SDF and ATL. (Case in point, Beard vs. No Beard) In the end, ATL has the final say.

She said less than 200 due to postal contract...they can hire as many as they want and still say less than 200 was due to postal...she trying to downplay the amount of expenditures for this contract to the investors.

Where are you getting 20% of the fleet getting parked? No hiring for years? C'mon, I'm no "cheerleader" & try to keep my eyes open but I think you're being a bit over the top. There are still lots of good reasons for a prospective pilot to come to UPS. There are also many downsides that an outsider may not be aware of. Nothing wrong with bringing those things up, but there's no need for breathless hyperbole and over-exaggeration.

BINGO

Anybody thinking otherwise is both "new here" and has never read between the lines of a quarterly earnings transcript.

Your right. I guess the part where she said "We won't be purchasing any aircraft" actually means, 30 A350F's on order.

If reading between the lines makes you feel warm and fuzzy, go right ahead.

Maybe leasing not purchasing?

Why would we need 30 A350Fs to support a postal contract that is largely domestic volume?

Carol was speaking SPECIFICALLY about the financial implications of the USPS contract - not about the overarching status of the airline.

Q1'24 Financial Statements show we have 21 new 767Fs remaining on order, and we've also recently taken delivery of two "certified preowned" Ochos that have not yet entered service.

The 170 positions created (by the recent Realignment, to support Postal) will grow our pilot group by the same amount of active pilots who retired under VTP last fall, and both IPNN and CPIL stated a similar-sized bid may follow later this year. Puppies and rainbows? Nah...but its nice to be growing again instead of shrinking.

Oh boy, a debbie downer and flat out wrong, when every piece of information our Union has received has been the opposite. 20% of our fleet? Man, you are flat out smoking something. You pulled the rabbit out of your a***, this number has never been mentioned anywhere. In fact, the new 767 are basically replacing the MD’s one for one until the last 10 or so.

You really think investors and analyst give two sh@ts about if UPS is hiring 200 or 400 pilots for a $1.7B USPS contract and a $90B Revenue company. Get Real. They don't.

You must be new here. Tome' wasn't downplaying anything. 200 or 400 is a pimple on a boar. Now buying 25 777F or A350F is another story.
