Contract negotiations started last week, and I believe improved schedule manipulation is an important objective.

What that might ultimately look like, we'll all find out when a TA is announced.

Thats good to hear! There’s only a few things in my research that I’ve to be better at FX. This coming from someone who interviewed early last week and is awaiting the final word.

I am looking for clarification on what feels like a kinda dumb question; how does award/assignment to aircraft type and domicile work for new-hires? From what I understand, seniority is established by age in your class group (oldest = most senior). But is initial fleet/domicile then bid on by seniority? Or is it assigned by UPS, with preferences maybe/maybe not considered?
Thanks

I did a lot of research on UPS a couple years ago, during the last time y'all were hiring hot and heavy. Now with a CJO in-hand, I am trying to reconstitute my UPS knowledge base so I can form the best picture I can of what I'm getting into. There are a number of threads running from as far back as 2017, but particularly 2021 timeframe that address topics like type of schedule, commuting, and some commentary about company culture/employee relations. Particularly I see a lot of info contributed by Boiler, FTv3, Brownnose, etc that is really in-depth. I know there are some differences (there's lots of references to what was happening at the time re: COVID, prolonged high-tempo ops, etc), but is the majority of that info still basically relevant? I am correct in thinking there really have not been major changes contractually since that time?
I have a bucket of questions, but I'm trying to keep from asking things that people have already given good complete answers to.
Thanks folks

I don't think much has changed from the hiring boom of 2022.

I’ve posted a lot of really detailed schedule info over the years. Might be under FTv2 of FTFF. Search UPS schedules - On one of the posts I linked all the ones I could find. I basically did a snapshot of different types of pairings and lines that we have.

Correct, seniority in class is oldest to youngest. Classes are one day apart so those in 747/MD class will be senior to day 2 class. Fleet and domicile preferences are submitted and awarded in seniority order the first day or two.
