Could be dozens, could be none. It’s all speculation.

There are 20 something unfilled vacancies following the class that started this week. Sounds like there is a Jan class which will fulfill these slots. Any additional hiring will require a new system bid so those of us on property can bid on those vacancies before they can be awarded to new hires. This takes time, enough so that a Feb class is looking unlikely unless we get that bid real soon.

Vacancy bids are contractually open 14 days, so a bid could open as late as 17 Jan to provide positions for a newhire class on 3 Feb.

23-102 came out mid-December last year...so we'll see.

As you know, 14.D.1 requires any vacancies to be posted no later than 28 days prior to the bid’s closing date, so Jan 3rd would be the day we’d know for sure (and they normally give more heads up than that). I don’t recall UPS doing the short notice thing to fill classes either - they were giving at least a month’s notice for each class this year including the first one; this timeline would also coincide with the 3rd of Jan. Further, they ain’t gunna do much for the week surrounding Christmas so practically speaking, if we don’t see a bid in the next week or two the chances of Feb class really start to plummet IMHO.

I know what the language says. I also know if you read further down in the paragraph, it says "Vacancy bids, which are available to be bid electronically, shall be posted for a minimum of fourteen (14) days."

All I'll say is look at the publish date, open date and close date of any Vacancy Bid during the time you've been here...then do the same for any Realignment/Displacement Bid.
