Any rumors about a July class yet?

I can’t imagine there’s a July class unless we have another bid. And I imagine we won’t have another bid until this tariff uncertainty is figured out.

This! But even with the uncertainty that looms ahead I wouldn’t be too concerned with not having a couple of months of classes. With the amount of upcoming retirements we have to continue hiring at some point unless the company plans to shrink the pilot group by 1000 over the next decade. I wouldn’t put it past them to try shrinking this place but in reality it’s not on my bingo card.

I generally agree. We are definitely short pilots in some fleets/seats. I’ve heard rumblings of flight cancellations on the international side, but I think it’s more small scale and not a systemic change.

Purely subjective and at-a-glance, but the 74 lines look substantially better than they've been for a long while. I would assume this indicates that they dialed the optimizer back down from "11".

definitely not seeing this on 75 domestic side. Worst batch of lines I’ve seen yet. Lots of above guarantee, many lines with as little as 11 days off per pp, no day week on/off, min rest layovers, etc. Still receiving lots of JA calls, have had several reschedules that have generated multiple premiums, even hit a 30/7 reschedule last week. It’s been rough.

About the July class, I flew with someone from the training department recently and he talked of how backed up they are. I could see a bit of a slow down as well just to try and clear some of that backlog.

With the current administration how can any business be expected to plan for more than the next two weeks? It's even harder for the logistics business.

I can’t tell you exactly how this will play out (because I’m not that bright), but my guess is that the flow of trade will flow around the tariffs like a river around boulders. Someone has to fly that trade. Remember, we move a ton of crap between and within Asia and Europe and the Middle East. I’m not saying the ride won’t be unnecessarily rough, but I’m skeptical that the worst case scenarios will play out.

I was *extremely* skeptical every step of the way to where we are now. "There's just no way! The two largest economies in the world in a de-facto Embargo? That's madness! It'll never happen."

Yet here we are. At a certain point, one must be skeptical about the value of skepticism.
