In the spirit of helping potential candidates stay informed, here are the retirements over the next few years. You will probably do better than this as we have a higher number of medical outs and unfortunate deaths than the rest of the airline industry. My guess is they will hire 25newhires & 12 NURPS = 37

Which fleets? Is there a vacancy bid to go with this?

Those numbers are all fleets. The number next to each year based on the number reaching age 65 system wide seniority that year.

I agree, but that wasn't my question.

To which fleets are the 25 to be hired going? Is there a vacancy bid?

Are sure your numbers are correct? 37 Retirements for 2015 is a little high? I thought it was the mid 20's?

Most Airlines lose 30 a month. Not 30 a year! Unless you are very young, go to a Major. This Airline is ridiculously young. The youngest by a Decade compared to others in the USA.

The Big years of Hiring in the early days 90-94, everyone was 25 to 30 years old. 70% of the Total today.

Most airlines have pilot groups 2x, if not more than 4x, the size of UPS too.

By the end of 2020, UPS will have 15% of pilots on the seniority list as of 1 Jan 2014 hit age 65. At FedEx the figure is 25%, Delta 20%, United 23%, American 24%.

By the end of 2025, 37% of UPS pilots will have hit age 65. At FedEx the figure is 51%, Delta 54%, United 44%, American a whopping 57%.

By the end of 2027, 50% of UPS pilots will have hit age 65. United will have 50% hit Age 65 in 2027 as well.

By the end of 2030, 70% of UPS pilots will have hit age 65. United hits 70% Age 65 in 2030 as well, while American gets there in early 2029...no data for Delta and FedEx.

So yes, the next decade at UPS offers slower Age 65 progression than peer airlines.

Of course, caveat emptor and all that...

While I appreciate all answers (no bitterness please), what would be the junior base for the next round of hiring? My app is on file and active and the site says;

UPSCO AIRLINE - First Officer

Click on the Schedule button below to arrange a meeting with a UPS Human Resources professional.

Nothing available when you click the button though…

any intel?

No Sh*t other Airlines are 2x or 4X larger. But 30 retirements a year times 4 is 120. Most Airlines are in the 300 to 600 range of retirements a year. If not more.

Hiring 25 or having a System wide Vacancy of 9 upgrades is a Joke. A Bad Joke. But it's reality here at UPS. 9? Seriously?

Or 65 New Hires over the course of 8 years. 2007 till mid 2015 we will have hired 65 pilots. Wow!

It's a shame the demographics, labor practices and fleet composition of UPS were such a closely held secret. Imagine how much more joyous so many lives could be today.

It's such an unfair world.
