Commuter for UPS
#2
Do a search and you'll save yourself a lot of pain from incoming rounds. Not trying to be a ###k, but unless you are senior there is no good commute here. Been doing it for 11 years. UPS finds new ways to screw with the schedule every bid period and especially during contract time. As a new hire move to SDF or go to Delta/AA/United.

Been at UPS a year and a half so VERY junior. Commute into the SDF MD-11 domicile. Almost exclusively ride on company airplanes out of ONT. Except for weekends, it's been a very easy commute. I'm able to hold reserve which is mostly 15 day blocks so I'm only doing it twice a month. Other fleets have less commute friendly schedules, and the ease of the commute may vary wildly depending on where you are coming from. To the OP: just curious, did you interview recently? Placed in the pool?

Not true at all. 10 year guy (junior) here and I am a commuter. Usually 2 commutes to SDF per month. I find it a lot easier, and pleasant, to commute on company aircraft here at UPS than at any of the other 5 airlines I've worked for. We have a descent commuter policy. If you are on company a/c commuting to work and anything goes wrong where you don't make it to work, no disciplinary action can be taken. That being said, if you miss your trip you are not pay protected for it. You will have to make it up somehow.....if you choose. As for a percentage of SDF guys who commute? Just a WAG, but I would say over 50% are commuters.

To the OP, are you a recent interviewee or poolie? There's a handful of poolies here waiting patiently for information- it'll emerge in due time.
A guy I know went to a job fair last month and talked to the UPS recruiter. He was told they would hire between 80 and 200 in 2016 depending on certain circumstances. If the last class is run in August (to complete training by peak), that leaves five months to train a minimum of 16/month.
Any recent interviewees have any news to share?
