From talking to an old squadron mate, it's exactly the same company it was 10-15 years ago. In fact, with the exception of a better contract and the hiring that had gone on during that time, it's exactly the same company, he says, that he hired into back in 1988.

Not true. UPS used to be all about service. They would Lear launch just to avoid missed service. Today service is an afterthought. Same empoyee treatment as the old days but entirely different focus. Service is secondary and cutting costs is he corporate mantra.

Ray,
OK. I'm sure you're right, except I was talking only about the company's treatment of the pilot group, which from a parochial, pilot's point of view, hasn't changed since the airline came into being.

What has many of us concerned is the lack of vision in this company. They promote from within to a fault. They are content to make around a billion a quarter. Their ambivalence has allowed Amazon to possibly crack our market. TNT, postal contract, and possibly the IPA contract are all unmitigated disasters.
Who is steering the UPS ship? It's not the box heads anymore.
