I've caught some bits and pieces on this site that the FQS is a bad deal. I heard a comparison analogy of an Officer / enlisted relationship in the military...

Thanks in advance

In no way is this correct. Both Officers and Enlisted personnel in the military are respected.

Can anyone qualified to fly for a major airline really not understand?

Ask yourself, can the USAF find people to promote to leadership positions?

Has EVERY single senior USAF pilot turned down EVERY single offer of promotion in two decades?

UPS is unable to get a single line Captain to take the FQS position ...... mmmm.

That pretty much covers it.

There have been a few IPA FOs that went into management for the instant 4th stripe and a pay bump. It probably wouldn't be a pay increase with our new contract.

Believe it or not there are people entering the airline hiring pool who are not consumed on a day to day basis by the internal politics of the UPS pilot group. The OP is attempting to educate themselves. I say good on them. Here is my feedback: If you are interested in coming to UPS, come here as a line pilot. You WILL have an opportunity to go to management within a couple years of being hired. Spend a year on the line and make an informed decision. I would absolutely NOT recommend anyone take a management position off the street.

i agree my statement comes across confrontational. The OP most likely has no idea of the past IPA/UPS issues.

Well said. A line pilot can always 'promote' (tic) to management.
Management can never change their mind and decide to just go fly as an IPA pilot.

Something to think about.

I think the way company should handle this is if the candidate is not capable and competent enough to complete training during his or her probation period instead of firing him or her immediately promote him to management position.
