Initial Training and Newbie questions
Hello all, a couple of questions.
Do most folks take their car?
How long is indoc?
Is there a break between indoc and aircraft training?
Is it worth taking your car if there is a break between the two?
I believe most 74 new hires going to ANC, is there a chance 75/76 newbies going to MIA or outside SDF?
Any other tips/advice?
Thank you!

- 2 weeks and a day
- Depends on fleet
- Having your own transportation is always cool; is it worth it? Two important answers to know -- how difficult is it to drive here and how long are you going to be here (what fleet is UPS going to assign)?
- Always a possibility
- Smile and enjoy the ride... welcome aboard.

- Depends on the class but I'd say around 50% is a safe bet.

They were off-duty when this happened. The court might just agree with their reasonings.

Story time? What caused it? Was it a bad training session? Did one of them cause the other to fail their rating ride?

Secondly, Physical violence gets airline pilots terminated on or off duty. Several behaviors and /or actions get pilots terminated on or off duty. Physical violence in the workplace is a concern to employers. Courts have awarded damages, not aware of forcing an employer to take an employee back as the RLA allows an employer to terminate (as long as the RLA CBA was followed).
Certainly wish them the best, but reading many cases regarding RLA and Federal/State court cases suggest courts look to how the RLA grievance process was not followed.

As do I... that being said, I was an ALPA rep at a previous employer and I remember several probationary terminations which we could do absolutely NOTHING about. As a probationary employee, your protections under the RLA concerning terminations due to job performance or personal conduct are EXTREMELY limited. Thats basically the whole point of a probation period, so that the company can decide if you are someone they want to keep or not. Sounds harsh, buts that the law.
