Ups qol?

With UPS hiring I'm giving it serious thought. First year pay sucks, but it all seems good after that. I'm more concerned about quality of life. As a junior captain at a regional I can really only get 12-13 days off a month. I want more of course. What are the scedules like for a junior FO on various aircraft types? What am I most likely to be on when I first get hired? Junior bases?

Thanks!

Where do you live or want to live?

...

You're a junior captain at a regional who's giving ups a "serious thought"??

Wow! Sure, we have a plethora of issues here at brown but things must've gotten SIGNIFICANTLY better at regionals for someone to even consider staying at a regional versus going to ups? No critisism just surprised to see such a comment.

To me a regional was the ultimate punishment. Bad pay, tough schedules, working for an airline which was then flying for another airline, constant bidding wars with other regionals, etc., etc.
As opposed to flying for a company with admittedly unsexy uniforms but good pay and benefits, a company that's been in business for 109 years..

Yeah, regionals of today must be a much better place nowadays.

They aren't. He clearly has been Stockholm syndromed.

It happens to RJ captains all the time. I often try to rationalize in my head why these guys, some good friends, fall into the regional trap so easily. I try to make the case for them but when it's all said and done I just don't get it. Regional flying is the lowest rung on the 121 ladder, and until you leave it for something else you never quite understand so.

The vocal amongst our small numbers has consistently disseminated negative rhetoric which has caused the masses to precieve Brown as a small step up from ACMI.

To the OP. I was hired earlier on in this hiring wave and my QOL has been equal to or often slightly better than my peers at the other majors. Search thru related threads. You can also jumpseat thru the system, chat with the crews, get a feel for it all. Consider catching a second day air flight (day) vs. a night one - night stuff takes a bit to settle into.

High time RJ captains aren't preferred candidates at the legacies.

Personal foul on the offense... unnecessary roughness. $20 penalty, repeat 1st down.

Brown is sexy baby... it's like chocolate milk, you don't always buy it, but you stare at it in the grocery store wanting some. [emoji41]

..

I'm sorry, we agree on many subjects but you can't possibly be serious? You blame people's opinion of brown on negative comments found on message boards?? If people base their job search decisions on comments found on anonymous message boards then they aren't smart enough to ride bicycles and much less to fly heavy jets all over the world.
Here's a fact - you should always do a thorough research when looking for a job.
Comparing a regional airline to a major airline, such as ups or fdx, is like comparing a Yugo to a Porsche. The Yugo might have a prettier paint job, comfier seats and a bigger radio but underneath it all it's still just a Yugo.
No, we aren't a "Porsche" and never will be but our pay and benefits are far superior to any regional airline out there no matter what "information" one finds on an anonymous message board.
..and yes, I realize that pay and benefits isn't everything, we all have different ideas of what really matters.
Apologize if I offended any Yugo drivers.
