I received the thanks but no thanks response also but it still says "on file" with a green thumbs up. When I click on it, it says no attention is required to my application at this time. Any idea what all that means?

Yea but is there anyway to know exactly the reason for not being selected. I definitely have the qualifications. 4500 TT, 3400 turbine, 1750 PIC Turbine and a ton of Atlantic crossings and international experience in a G550.

What does "active" mean compared to "on file"?

No.

While you certainly are qualified, there are THOUSANDS of other applications that are just as if not more qualified.

The way I understand it (and I could be wrong) is a computer algorithm scores each application and racks/stacks them all; the company says "Anything with a score X or higher we're Actively looking at now, anything below X is On File for further consideration".

Basically, Active is the short stack and On File is the big stack.

Pilot referrals and talking to HR at job fairs are two ways a candidate can change their status from On File to Active; another way may be for the company to lower the minimum application score they are actively looking at. While this may sound derisive toward candidates and I certainly don't intend it to be...perhaps not terribly unlike Delta's Tier 1 and Tier 2 candidate system.

Again. I'm not 'in the know' and could be wrong, but this is an educated WAG based on observation...my app was originally On File before going Active and me entering the interview process.

I'm at a little over 6000TT. Between Kalitta and Atlas I've been on the 74 for about two years. Also got the TBNT response with the "On File" status.

Who knows, maybe I placed a period or comma in the wrong spot somewhere on the app.... that'd be my luck

I'm also a little over 6000tt with 2300 in the 777 at EK. Got the tbnt as well. Too bad the application only asks about 121/135 time.

There is a box for Part 91 time as well, if that's what you were referring to. ??

Total time was 11000 when I got hired. I'll spare you the details and type ratings.

I was applying to UPS for YEARS.

I got a call for an interview 24 hours after a current pilot completed a recommendation.

I'd say the best thing any of you can do is to make contacts.

Should have mentioned its a "catch 22". Most of the UPS list hasn't been anywhere else but UPS for 10 years. Its been a LONG time since we hired.

Its hard to have a contact here, when most of us haven't flown anywhere else in a decade.
