Default How many in pool?

Does anyone know, or can anyone find out how many people are in the pool? I read/heard some numbers, but I think it's all hearsay.

I understand how the pool works, however if I knew there were say 50 people versus 300, then I would have a better idea.

I'm trying to figure this out so that I can give my employer the best estimate of when I'll be called.

I don't know any good way to find out a number. I'm not sure HR would tell, and to be honest, the way UPS runs sometimes, they may not know.

Ask when people interviewed and were given class dates. Compare that to your interview/CJO and it may give timeline.

3000, have you already interviewed and been contacted that you were successful with the interview?

The pool (last anybody heard) is not FIFO, but rather 'scored'.

I would not give notice until receiving a conditional job offer with specific date.

There are people who have been in the pool for a few years now. Some are getting a class date right out of the interview while others are getting a pool letter. There is no way to predict when you'll get a class.

Yes, I understand that. I work for a small flight department, which has treated me very well, it's not like I'm giving notice to an airline with thousands of pilots. I'm not giving official notice, just an idea so they can make plans.

I understand your situation completely - I was CP of a two pilot, two plane Pt.91 flight department with a direct report to the CEO/HMFIC when I got the call for class.

I notified him the same day I got a class date, which was 6 weeks notice.

Congrats on being in the pool, and hopefully you'll be in class sooner rather than later (with enough time to do right by your employer, of course).

Great, that gives me some kind of idea. How long from the time you recieved the pool letter until you got a class date?

3 months for me...

6 months for a buddy I know...

35 days for another buddy I know...

Im not trying to be a jerk here, but I think what everyone is trying to say is... 'they will call you when they decide to call you'.
