Default Some 757 Recurrent in MIA soon.

For the Lucky ONT and MIA crews, AQP will be in South Beach. Starting in April/May time frame.

Also rumor is that for every 10 HR calls for a Interview or Class, 50% are already hired at other carriers and are staying put. UPS needed to start this hiring a year earlier.

Will they have to lower their standards to ensure an adequate supply of pilots?

Unlikely.

It just means that they have to make twice as many calls as before. Or put another way, they only have 5000 to chose from, instead of 10,000 applicants

I am far from knowledgeable on this. But in my head the number should be more like 2000. Those 10,000 "qualified applications" everyone has on file are also on file at AA, DL, FX, UA. Probably many are at SW also. Most of these people will go to whomever offfers them the first class date.

I'm hearing that UPS is looking at purchasing LH's MD-11F fleet. UPS is so short of lift that they need more a/c now.

I was also told that by 2 level 2 managers. They said it would be a "cleanup" bid from the last one to get the bodies in the right places.

IMO, since it is supposed to come after the second bonus check, the company may need bodies in places they hadn't planned.

What are you all hearing in terms of April retirements?

I've heard numbers ranging from 60 on the low side to 100 on the high side...with multiple different people say "Flt Ops Admin has ordered 80+ retirement photos".
