Remembering Mogadishu
Ran across a few ancient artifacts

Nice picture. Were you there in the 90s?

Yes, shortly after BHD until the final pullout.

Hey Jungle - man... thats wild. Is that your passport? Did you actually carry that 45. caliber pistol? That badge has a soviet coat of arms symbol on it. You do some pretty amazing flying! What is it that you do? Probably weird with all the questions but this stuff interests me. Wild times my friend, and please keep the pics coming!

The passport came from the good citizens of Mogadishu who decided that under conditions of total anarchy it would be an excellent idea to loot the Government printing office. They took the tiles from the floor, plumbing fixtures and pipes and of course stacks of freshly printed passports and currency. The printing office did beautiful work and the currency was something to behold, filled with fine colored engravings of African animals and local color. All of this was worth less than a nice roll of double ply toilet paper.
You asked a lot of questions I'd rather not answer. Just enjoy it for what it is and if you ever meet anarchy on the road, you'll know what to do. The Government that printed the Passport had ceased to exist by the time I got it. It has remained extinct to this day. |
Right yeah, no its cool... I just noticed you have been to some interesting locations from your pics, MIA, Honduras, Columbia, wow... crazy flying there man! Thought you might fly cargo in Central and South America

And in 2003 I got to go back to Africa and be very close to that place....ugh...the armpit of the world! |
Sounds like you made it to that lovely scented garden called Djibouti.

Jungle, Your writing style reminds me of HST, especially his earlier works, which I think were the best. Ever consider doing a book? I saw him once in San Francisco, but he seemed in a bad mood, so I left him alone. |
