It's amazing how cramped those boats seem. I have a slight tendency to be claustrophic- trust me the tendency grows when I've toured WW2 subs.

Those guys had nerves of steel.

All the more amazing when you look at the contribution they made based on the number of men serving vs. the entire Navy. Then you see the casulty rate and the sacrifice really hits home.
