Great as usual Jungle. Wonder why the exit hatch on the 74 is open

Cooling(none of the windows can be opened on the 74) and maybe getting rid of that brand new aircraft smell.:)

do the MD's always leave the lift devices out like that?

No, they are probably extended for the daily inspection here, lots of moving bits to inspect. It isn't uncommon to see the ailerons or elevator droop after shutdown due to loss of hydraulic pressure.

I thought our 400's were all going to be front loaders? Hence the location of the logo under the nose.

Freightie goes in Front door, out da back. :D

Synchronized-like......

8-Capt.

Nose opens, it's just not open in the pic. You guys can go either way.

I resemble that remark!:)

Thanks 11, I've only seen the front open once in SDF. Then again it is 3am and I can barely find my plane!

It's a pretty impressive sight. One does feel a bit like Jonah peering into the abyss.

It does beg the question though. Can you have both the Nose and the Main Deck Door open at the same time? One heck of a wind tunnel I would suspect. I'll have to check that out, unless one of y'all already know.

NICE PICS! So the -11 is like the WW2 Rolls Royce Merlin (Packard Merlin) powered aircraft, no engine power=no hydraulic power=flaps down? That's why you always see -51s, Spitfires, Hurricanes etc... with the flaps down on the ground in photos.

Usually you may only see the ailerons, slats and elevator droop. The flaps were extended for inspection.

Yes, a D300 with a Nikon 70-300mmVR lens. Taken from well outside the wire.

Fly Gal 08-22-2008 05:34 PM

Nice pics. I never noticed that the shield was also on the nose door.
