B-17 in flight
From a recent ride in the EAA's "Aluminum Overcast". Pics aren't the best because I was having too much fun going around the plane.

3 GPS's? I think I see two GNS430s and then some other type mounted overhead.
Did you shoot down any Jerrys? |

I got to do that a couple months ago, what a blast! Did they have the top hatch open?

Amazing contrast in technology in a couple of those shots. 40 years apart they were two items that were essential to the safety of our nation.
GPS and the Norden (sp) bomb sight. |
No, they didn't have the hatch open. I would have loved for the bomb bay doors to be open and walk the catwalk through the bomb bay in flight.
Sitting in that chair in the nose was most surreal, especially when you stick your head forward. Here's a clear shot of the panel. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...ilus/panel.jpg |
