You should have taken them during the day. They probably would have turned out better. :D

Actually, I think they are pretty good.

How inconsiderate of NASA to launch when we can't get clear pictures :D

Absolutely stunning. Talk about midnight sun. I should go watch a launch one day. Does anybody know if there is any special procedure for this?

I used to live on the 'space coast', as they say, for many years. The launches, day or night, are easily visible from many miles away. However, you can get a pretty good seat without being in any "special" area if you even get within a couple miles of the outskirts of the cape.

There were many times where I would be home watching tv or doing something mundane, only to notice that my windows were ever so slightly rattling rattling from a very deep vibration/rumble...step outside and there would be the shuttle blasting away.

Night launches from up close are definitely the best. Amazing to see the night sky so brightly lit up.

The place where I took the picture was about 12 miles away (Titusville) from the 39A launch pad..... the NASA picture was about 6 miles away on their causeway.... NASA I'm pretty sure charges around $50 to watch it from their causeway... Titusville is of course free, but the traffic is crazy! Just getting a clear spot to take a picture is not an easy thing to do.

The shuttle really lights up the sky though and the sound (even from 12mi) is worth it!
