Trying to figure out the 'F' designation... maybe for "Fotos"
The P-38 in its recce version was the F-4 and later the F-5. and then you had this recce beauty, the XF-12 Republic Rainbow. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ic_Rainbow.jpg |
The instructor gave me **** about my flying but later she chased me down after debriefing and told me how great i was, we ended up hooking up 2 hours later http://www.hotflick.net/flicks/1986_...Gillis_004.jpg |

Yep. Photo recce. The Reporter was a variant of the P-61 (pursuit if one can call a big twin engine machine like the black widow a pursuit). And as long as we are not talking about Navy aircraft.

Of course that is just one picture, but I've seen others in the past. It does rank up there with one of the more drastic changes in appearances in only a little over 20 years. I guess Tom's plastic surgeons have done a better job!
USMCFLYR OK - back to speaking of the F-15E. I remember sitting behind them in the pits at Al Jaber during OIF - and that was only half their load! For any former Strike Eagle pilots - do you remember a LtCol WSO being killed after ejection during 'unauthorized' (?) BFM in the mid-late '90s? |
