Storm, Sunset, and Marathon 7 mile bridge

Makes me wish I had a better camera.. I just took these with my IPhone, but I want to start taking better ones...

Does anyone have any information about what I need to do to mount a camera to the outside of an aircraft? Is it legal? Does it have to have an STC? I'm curious if anyone (or CFIs who know the FARs better than me) has done this before or knows about it?

Duct Tape, and call it good! Best to talk to a mechanic, probably need some sort of field approval at a minimum if it's hard-mounted.

To my knowledge, the Discovery show "flying WILD Alaska" uses GoPro cameras mounted to the aircraft. The suction mounts designed for cars probably would work well for a light GA aircraft as they are designed for triple digit speeds.

There is an article out there on the 'net about a guy who made a camera mount on the vertical stab of his Cherokee. I'll see if I can find it.

I have the Gopro suction mount, and that will stick to pretty much anything really well! :D

Speaking of the GoPro, how do people like it? Can someone instantly play the video back and watch it, or would you have to wait to plug it into a tv or computer to watch the video.

I love my GoPro. There may be a screen you can buy to instantly watch playback. I just take the card out and put it in my computer. One nice thing is you can make the camera record upside down so you have more options to mount it.

Funny this came up, I've been thinking of doing the same thing...
