Catalina is by far one of my favorite airports to fly into, and places to visit! Makes me jealous and homesick all at once.

Very nice. I haven't flown a C172 or any small plane of that caliber for quite some time. It ALMOST tempts me to get SE current & take a tour of SoCal. I remember getting checked out by the FBO in the late '90s for HHR-AVX. Due to the infamous "slope" at the end of the runway, I always thought they should have put distance remaining signs up.

Thanks for sharing, good job. I have flown around there a bit too and this reminds me how quickly they hand you off. Go 25 miles and you may talk to a dozen ATC agencies during the trip it's such dense airspace.

25 bucks and you don't even get tie down ropes or wheel chocks?

Did I see a glimpse of a pulsating VASI right there at the very end of the approach to 22? Left hand side - a little further off than usual for a standard VASI it looks like.

Hiram,
That brings back a lot of memories of myself back in the 80's flying out of KBUR with my students flying to Catalina.
Great video, wish you the best in your career.

It was my first time actually landing at Catalina. Hiram, the pilot had been there many times. I'm just getting back into it after a three year sabbatical! Thought I would lend my talents to the flight school and shoot some videos.

Yeah I was laughing at that...but whatever works. They have to fly in supplies daily so I cut them some slack.
