Who has more information on this?
I don't ever remember the USAF being involved in the Harrier program.

I wondered the same thing....I've never seen this display.

To my knowledge, it was never evaluated by the USAF, not even as a TPS platform for the school.

I'm not a Harrier guy , but I had not ever heard of it even being considered by any other service either, but there are some unknowns (or little knowns) out there.
Who else remembers the USMC evaluation of the F-14A?

It was evaluated, but at that time it was called the XV-6A "Kestrel".

Good job! I had the same question - it took a while. Hey that's silver...hey it says Air Force.

Thanks for the research and your insightful posts on the forum.

The AF also evaluated the F-14. Chappie flew it.

Did the USMC ever buy those retired UK airframes?

This display is located over at the annex on WPAFB. There are two hangars; one with presidential aircraft (to include SAM 26000) and the other is filled with experimental aircraft. In the future, these aircraft will be moved to the new wing that begins construction shortly adding a fourth hangar to the main museum...
