Airplane Repo On Discovery Channel

I work with one of the guys interviewed/flying from that show. Moving deck in the South Pacific. You should hear him tell what really happened. The captain finally said enough, with an admiral on board.

Just saw an episode titled "Flying Blind".
Airplane Repo - S02E07 - Flying Blind - Full Episode - YouTube
In this episode Kevin Lacey is coaching a "little girl" on her first repo" of a 172, I guess as his new protege, Heather. (She is not little) This repo was to take place in TX where I live. (Per a previous episode, Kevin Lacey is based out of an airport very close to my home airport). The new chick repo'd a Cessna 172 Skyhawk with the exact same paint scheme as one I trained in for several months.

Absolutely fake:
A learjet with a complete hydraulic failure that is then taxied??? to a hangar???
A Cherokee with a total electrical failure at night except for strobe lights, landing lights and conveinenty, on final approach as the runway lights go away.
A Beaver with an overheating engine, precautionary landing & nothing done but the problem goes away.
Aircraft & engine logbooks conveniently in over half the aircraft that are repossessed?

If you can dig up the May 2010 issue of Smithsonian Air & Space there is a great article on Popovich. Apparently Kevin Lacey is/was one of his contract pilots. I watched one episode of "Airplane Repo". i didn't need to see anymore...

This is new to us, you can imagine how medical and law enforcement people feel. However I'm pretty sure "the Love Boat" was spot on.

i know this is an old thread, but had to share. i met kevin lacey a few back in ADS (he has a hanger at the private strip 3 miles north) he is as much of an ******* in real life as he seems in the show. loves to bash pilots saying "they are the most arrogant pieces of **** ive met in my life" and i asked him how HE can say that and he told me "im a mechanic" he doesnt even consider himself a pilot. the show was originally a documentary of the real deal with nick popovich and was rather accurate. but discovery channel said it was too expensive to produce as it take so long to make one episode and was not dramatic enough for the general public, but ill bet real pilots loved it. HELLO! it takes time to repo and airplane and popvich did an article in Flying magazine and even said that when he comes to repo a plane they always know he is coming. this show is a joke as is the cast. (at least... lacey left a really poor impression with me if you cant tell)
