Few photos

These are just a few photos I have from traveling around in a 172. Unfortunately photobucket reduces the size so much that ya kinda lose the quality of the pic, but enjoy! (I've probably taken 1000 photos of random places...lot of neat ones)

This is downtown Dallas

Just east of Oakland, heading up to Petaluma, CA (with my prop in there)

Looking at the San Francisco Bay.

The next three are down in the LA Basin. Malibu, then the Hollywood sign, and then a neat picture of the marine layer.

This was on my flight up to Denver. I was around St John Arizona at the time

And lastly, me flying down to the Weslaco / Harlingen / South Padre area.

Great Photos!

That is one hell of a tailpipe!!!

What is it for? I have flown planes with the high performance exhaust, and they add a slight amount of power/noise.
But that thing is huge! What is it for?

I think I have tailpipe envy :~

I think it's a photography plane. The tailpipe extension keeps the camera lense port clean. Correct me if I'm wrong, Imperial.

I don't know anything about tailpipes, but I like your photos, especially the ones of the bay. Thanks for sharing them.

The talented Contrails went and moved to the east coast on me so my local photography supply is dwindling.

Ok, well I am nothing like contrails (with my 4 megapixel camera and my barely ameture photographer skill), but I have lots of good pictures of the bay area. I will post some from time to time. Here is a good one of the city from Marin.

And all my pics look better full size. How come I have to shrink them to about 600x450 to get them to 120kb before I can post them. How does everyone else post full size pics????

Ryane,

Nice photo! That's what it looks like right now outside my window. What a beautiful, clear, warm day it is today. I'm sure that the guy in the 37 foot sailboat who is stuck on the sandbar outside my window is glad that the weather is gorgeous. He has a long wait as I don't think it's high tide until about midnight. The yacht club already came and removed all of his guests from the boat, but the captain needs to stay with his girl.

Ah yeah, my camera is a cheap-o digital camera too...and when I uploaded them to photobucket it reduced the quality even more! But I guess they still look ok.

The tailpipe is an STC that our parent company purchased. Primary function is to route our exhaust away from our cameras, so that our images aren't distorted. Secondary function is to attract every FAA ramp check dude within a 100mi radius =)

In actuality it does nothing for performance, and kinda makes a loud(er) sound than a normal 172, considering we have a hole in the belly right near where the exhaust comes out. It also sounds like a mortar was just fired, whenever our planes backfire.

Over-all its been fun though! I've flown the little 172 from coast to coast.

What kind of photography work do you do in the C172? That actually sounds like a fun job.

skycowboy 02-24-2007 11:01 AM

very nice photos, looks like one of those photography 172's with the "anti-exhaust-in-yo-lens" pipe.
