Would you be OK with your loved ones seeing this in a public forum?
Information and the resources of the internet can be nothing but good. As a consumer or family member, I have the choice of NOT looking at photos if I am squeamish or personally involved. As an arm chair accident investigator (and one who prefers learning over ignorance) these photos are priceless, keep them coming!

I am the first guy to try to learn from an accident, but plenty can be learned without disrespecting the victims or their loved ones.

Obviously morbid curiosity beats compassion and respect.

Have a ball.

Huck - Thanks. For what it's worth, I think you did the right thing. I appreciate it.

I have some information. My brother in law Steve (who is 43 not 28) was one of the crew members on that plane. He has suffered upper body trauma and has under gone extensive spinal cord surgery. Doctors are already talking about a possible second surgery very soon. He is in serious condition. Jk is in critical condition with severe head trauma and is the most serious of all of the men that were on that plane. The pilot had surgery on Tuesday (not sure why) but my understanding is he helped pull others from the plane. I personally credit him for doing the best he could in a situation like that. All others are in good condition or have been released from the hospital. I, nor do any of my family members, find the pictures offensive. When we saw them we couldn't believe that ANYONE could have survived something like that. Except by the grace of GOD, this crew did. Although we feel terrible about the 3 people who died on the ground, we are so VERY THANKFUL that all of the crew members made it out alive. Kallita Air has tried very hard to gather wives and family members, obtain emergency passports, and fly all to Columbia. They arrived Wednesday morning and are now with their loved ones.

Steve is a great mechanic. Whenever I showed up to the airplane and saw him, I was glad I had someone as good as him coming along. I hope everything turns out ok for him.

Dicrca - or any Kalitta crew member, I know it's early to be asking this question but how is y'alls health insurance for those kind of events? Will they all be covered? Let us know if any help is needed…

I hate to hear spinal cord injuries and head trauma, but am extremely thankful to know that they are alive and with their families. Thank you

They have decent health coverage, not sure about disability though. Will know more when his wife comes back from Colombia.

P.S. Thanks to all for their prayers and support.

I agree, famous deaths and plane crashes come in 3's.

I pray for the crew, as well as the surviving USA jet F/O, and the Capt. family. May everyone fly safe!!

Such a sad week or so in aviation. Not like we all don't have enough on our plates right now to worry about, only to have these incidents happen.

As 747 freight driver, my only question is how long was the crew awake, on duty and what were the pressures on them to "finish the mission"?
Very common at lower tier freight haulers!
