Default Who buys the beer?

Please don't hate on me for asking this. I'm still a relatively newhire at Delta. I know Delta tradition has been that the Captain provides. So far, the Captain has insisted on buying the beer on nearly every rotation I've been on. However, my question comes from when I'm on a Greenslip. When I'm on a greenslip, I feel like I'm probably making more than the Captain on that particular trip. Having him buy for me, makes me feel very guilty. Should I be offering to buy the beer? What's the standard?

You can always offer. If you're on 1st year pay regardless of GS you drink free if the captain is worth his/her salt. If the CA doesn't buy and you're on a 3 man with me. Your covered. My experience. YMMV. When you make captain, remember your new hires, it's what makes this a brothahood. (and sistas too)

We treat new hires like hot FA's. We'll buy the beer. There are exceptions to every rule. Past performance...

When Im on a GS, I buy. When Im on a jumpseat and theres a newhire in the right seat, I give the Capt a $20 to buy beer and dinner for the newhire from me. Newhires are like newborn puppies, I just want them to be comfortable.

NEVER buy beer when you are new!!!!

Your day will come, and you should be as generous to your new hires as the "old folks" were to you, but for now just sit back and drink your beer

It's not about the money . . .

I wonder who picked up the check when Howard Hughes was a new-hire at American (under the alias "Charles Howard")?

$20 would only cover the beer. Try slipping him $40

Just be sure to pay it forward and carry on the tradition. I am on the 12th year pay-scale and also offer to buy the beer when on a GS. Very few guys will say yes, but if I am persistent they might let me buy a round.

New Hire never buys beer. You should be afraid to lose your hand if you even reach for your pocket in the bar.
Year 2+ on a GS, go ahead and make the offer
Year 12+ on a GS, buy the beer

Last summer, both FOs were on out of base GS. We bought all the beer and dinner.
