Alaska pilots may drop or trade any portion of their trip to any other pilot in any city. Case in point, I needed a day off. I flew 3 of 4 days of my trip. I slept at the outstation on the 3rd night. Day 4, I jumpseated home to go to my shindig, while my friend jumpseated to the outstation to fly the last 2 legs of my trip back to our domicile.
We can also pick up trips off other pilots in others domiciles pilot-to-pilot. In theory, you could be a jr lineholder in Anchorage, but live in Seattle. You could theoretically drop all of your ANC trips p2p and pick up a full line in Seattle.

If you are trying to drop the first or last leg do you just put it up for drop and hope that someone who is commuting on that flight picks it up? Do you have the ability to look and see who is listed standby I.e. a fellow captain, first officer or whatever the case may be... and then contact them directly? Apparently JetBlue is able to do this.
At WestJet we can not see who is listed STBY or non rev. We just have to hope they see the drop and pick it up.
Do you use Flica as well?

Can you see if another captain is listed on the flight? We do not have that option at WestJet.

As a pilot with WestJet, we use Flica to view or schedule, drop entire pairing, part of the pairing or just drop the first or last leg of the pairing for commuting purposes.
I recently talked with a colleague who informed me that at Air Canada, they are not allowed to drop the first or last leg of their pairing. As well, I talked with a friend at JAZZ and they are allowed to do this. I guessed I assumed that this was the standard.
I am curious as to whether or not aircrew at Southwest Airlines are able to do this? For that matter, I would like to know which airlines are allowing first leg/last leg drops.

We can see if there's a jumpseater listed on the on non-rev list. Sometimes, we recognize the name as a fellow pilot we know. Other times, we just see them at the gate when we walk up or when they board the airplane. It's anything we can do in advance. It's normally a last-minute thing.

Hi Shoelu and thanks for your reply. Do you have the ability to see who is listed non rev to determine if someone is flying STBY who could take your last leg? What do you use for scheduling? I.e. at WestJet we use Flica.

SWA uses Crew Web Access.
I do commute and am occasionally able to drop the last leg or, even better, get paid for my commute.
