Fee for departure regionals always negotiate with a gun to their head. "Take concessions or else your shiny new jets will go to a lower bidder."

Majors negotiate in a different environment. Except for the post 9/11 BK days, union pilots were leaders in enhancing contracts and pattern bargaining.

Look at the history of Jetblue, Allegiant, and Virgin. They have always been playing catch up. Their raises, if they got any, tended to be lower and later than their union counterparts.

Not really a total apples/apples comparison. If you want to compare those three airlines to union counterparts, then those would be Frontier and Spirit. These are similar sized airlines and on the LCC arena. People may not want to admit it but there is a difference in pay/QOL in the LCC and legacy carriers. The two are not on par with the same. One group has been around for 80 years, the others started in 1994, 2000, and 2007.

Are you implying we will merge with VA?

I wasn't comparing those three airlines to just the traditional big 3 legacies. I was also thinking of HA, AS, and WN (pretty much any union group with a CBA). They have superior contracts, not only in the top hourly rate, which pilots love to fixate on, but other sections of their contract too (work rules, disability, retirement).

I realize there will be outliers, such as F9 at present, but I think union contracts justify union dues. If an airline has financial weakness, it doesn't matter if the pilots are union or not, something will have to give.

1 year sounds good to me
but having a CBA ready day one
Isn't that too early?
(I did not want to say premature not to offend anyone )
Isn't the number one rule of negotiation that
The first to say a number loses?

1 year until an industry leading CBA.
I like that, also I heard management wants a contract
to be able to borrow money
Must be part of their business plan as fixed costs
To present to the banks
I know nothing, but it does not sound crazy to me

Yeah but at JetBlue the pilots make more than both of those Skywest pilots combined. Can we drop the regional BS?

This.

"Most" jetblue pilots on second year FO pay will make more than "most" Skywest ca make...

not... Repeat not regional. Say to yourself... I'm a pilot at a major airline, I DO DESERVE real work rules pay and benefits. I should not have to "sacarifice" to work here. Yes I am worth it.

Friggin beaten wives God.....
