Good point. Something else omitted is that those profits at DAL and AAG are helped in part by labor that took deep concessions during the BK era. And a smaller cog, squeezing their outsourced regional feed into lower "sourcing costs".

Make no mistake, AAG's and DAL's rates/retirement and profit share (DAL) are IMPRESSIVE.

But just for comparison sake;

DAL C01 737NG in 2001 year 2nd year 737 NG FO, 111.26/hr. Year 12, 153.54/hr. Hammer it home, and do an inflation adjustment.

Take a gander at the CURRENT DAL 737NG rates.

Spirit's margins don't beat DAL's, they took DAL's to dinner, then bent them over the hood of their car in the parking lot.
Do you even lift bro?

Ikr lol.

DL was making plenty of money with $100+ oil. But if Spirit is really the "most profitable" they should have no problem becoming the highest paid with the best work rules.

Hope Spirit gets a great contract. Respect for them striking in the first place. It'll be interesting watching the LCC slugfest in FLL and other markets.

Date rape? Seriously?! I can only hope that's NOT a Freudian slip on your part, but rather a deranged attempt at humor.

I wasn't trying to debate the merits of Spirit's business model (it kicks ass!), or that we're making tons of money, but merely pointing out the absurdity of the statement that Spirit is the most profitable airline in the U.S.

Before this gets any weirder, I think that's about it for me. Good day.

I agree with your point. But you've been around long enough to know it's simply not that easy.

Because what you're saying would be akin to the NC saying to DAL management a few years back, or even NOW;

"Since we're making insane profit, we want contract 01's 2004 pay rates AS THE BASELINE, plus all the rules we gave up in BK, and then some".

On a per domestic airframe basis I very much think you can call Spirit the most profitable airline in the U.S. That's a lot of qualifying remarks though.

But, to the original post, I'm not sure you're going to see a lot of guys leave. I still have active applications out as well, but I am not seriously considering any of them, in fact I've stopped updating them entirely. Can we say the same about other guy's? Who knows. We'll learn over the course of the next few years if guys leave or if they stay, but I'm not so sure this next contract will be the catalyst for mass exodus like some are thinking.

Getting back to the main question, there is absolutely no reason that we need to give anything up in this next contract! One of the main reasons why I came to Spirit was the QOL written into the current contract. I will not sacrifice days off, pbs, or anything else during a time when this company is extremely profitable. We all know we are getting raises though. How much? Well, that is something that will be determined in the future.
I don't think many pilots will leave this place unless there is a major failure on our part at the negotiating table.

Profit is measured as a percentage, not as simply "who's got more".

Lemme break it down Atlanta Style for you;

If I start with $1 and turn it into $1000, and you start with $1000 and turn it into $10,000, while you end up with $9000 more in the bank than I, my money was 100x more effective than yours.

Hence, more profitable.

I'm pretty sure profit is measured in dollars. Profit margin? Thats the word I think you were looking for. It's not even a complicated phrase, or confusing for that matter. Next time you tell it how it is, make sure you're in the right.
And thats why we have a pysc test here at the D. To keep people out like you. Get a legacy contract and maybe you don't have to wait till you are Captain to move out of your moms double wide trailer.
