Vision Airlines contracted to fly for Spirit.
Just been informed:
Vision Airlines contracted to fly for Spirit during the strike.
A warning to Vision pilots...
DO NOT DO IT. YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED A SCAB. YOU MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO COMMUTE TO WORK. YOU MIGHT NEVER BE ABLE TO BE EMPLOYED BY AN ALPA CARRIER.
ALPA's definition of a SCAB:
. . . any pilot who performs any service on behalf of Spirit Airlines after a strike is declared, whether or not they act as a pilot or in some other capacity, will be considered to be operating against their fellow brothers and sisters at Spirit Airlines, the Air Line Pilots Association, the pilots ALPA represents, and the piloting profession as a whole.
We will identify you....

I'm confused.
The MEC at Spirit has defined struck work as pilots who go to work for SPIRIT, crossing a picket line, or being hired by Spirit after the strike and flying as a pilot FOR Spirit.
The MEC very DELIBERATELY left their "struck work" definition open for another carrier to fly. So are you saying that the Spirit MEC has now changed their minds? Or are you saying that since Vision is being hired BY Spirit to fly for them, that it's considered "struck work"?
disclaimer: I don't fly for Vision, have no intention of EVER crossing a picket line, just trying to understand what's going on in the interest of keeping up with your fight. Hope you get a contract you want and deserve!
p.s. That website has to be the slowest-loading website I've seen in years on a high-speed internet connection...

The Spirit MEC's definition of struck work is very clear that if Spirit management is wet leasing lift from other carriers, then that flying is considered struck work. It would be different if Vision was flying routes on their own, but they're apparently being chartered by Spirit. That's clearly struck work.

I don't work for Spirit or Vision or anything else, but I'm just curious how this works..
The Vision pilots fly the flights and are considered Scabs... or...
The Vision pilots refuse to fly the flights and are fired?
Talk about being in a tough spot.

An excellent reason why you should never fly for a non-union carrier where you're an at-will employee.
