So just to confirm, the Delta requirements are for "FCC Radiotelephone Operator's Permit (RP)," but the FCC has changed that code to "RR" for the same permit? I would hate to get to the Delta interview and show them my "RR" permit when the application clearly states "RP."

Why not go to the FCC application site and check out the codes -- it's pretty self-explanatory at this point.

It's like the SIC type rating. If you only fly domestically you don't need one. It's implied by holding a pilot certificate you know how to talk on the radio. Foreign govs don't buy that. So to make the foreign governments happy the FCC issues you piece of paper.

If you've been flying internationally for years without one you just haven't been ramped by a foreign CAA.

"RR" is what you want.

In a similar situation, but only have a photocopy of my card (orig disappeared after a number of PCSs). I called 1-877-480-3201 (option 2), and spoke with a lady who told me that since my orig was issued before they went to an online database (~2000), the license was not on file. Since it was not on file, and without the original, I'd have to apply and pay the $60 for a new one.

Sounds like you can send the original in to them, and if they can read everything and see the seal on it, you may be able to get a free duplicate. Give them a call...they pick up the phone right away and are pretty helpful.

Update:

Just did this for my Envoy interview on Friday, cost is now $65. Previous instructions were spot on, quick registration for an FRN, go back and log in. Select RR, pay the $65 with a credit card. Easy day.

I am bringing my printed proof of application since I doubt they'll get the card to me in the day before I fly down to Dallas.

Meant to add:

I asked customer support about a military rate, they said there were no special rates available. $65 for everyone.

Next time you fly internationally in the military, just file it on you travel voucher.
It is required... right?

Great way to ops check how the Article 15 process is going at your local Wing, though.

Quick turnaround, applied yesterday and they emailed it to me this morning. The $65 doesn't hurt as bad now while I'm still on AD as if I waited until I'm getting first year FO pay... And I prefer to avoid mast when I can.
