There might me a misconception. You don't pay them $15k for a SIC type. I know of a few that left after completing training or after being furloughed that have never heard a peep.

I just never handed it back into them during indoc. Never heard a thing. I also have never heard of them going after anyone for the training contract. Doesn't mean they won't in the future. But past practice for what it is worth.

Reeeeelax people. It's meant as a deterrent. When I signed mine in 2007, it was worded as "2 years of flying for Chautauqua Airlines". I work for Republic and never have flown one flight for Chautauqua. It's worthless with a ton of holes.

2.
Chautauqua is entitled to a reasonable return on its investment in Pilot Candidate’s training. Chautauqua will not realize a reasonable return on its investment in the training provided to Pilot Candidate under this Agreement unless Pilot Candidate successfully completes the training and continues to operate the aircraft in revenue service for a reasonable period of time.

Is this the same Chautauqua that was offering Comair pilots a signing bonus to resign as soon as they completed their initial 121 CRJ checkride, on Comair's dime, and then join CHQ?
Remember, back when CHQ won that Continental Express flying but ExpressJet refused to surrender the EMBs? And CHQ had to scramble for aircraft to meet their obligations and had to settle on second-hand CRJ200s? Even though they had no CRJ training program at the time? And went scalping other airlines for brand-new just-trained CRJ pilots?
And so the CHQ recruiter was having Comair new-hires quietly pass around his phone number during initial and offered them a thousand dollars to finish training at Comair and then go to CHQ?
Can't be the same airline. I must be thinking of the other Chautauqua.

I've never heard of them going after anyone and there are A LOT of people that have left prior to 2 years. And also quite a few that chose not to come back from furlough. Just meant to scare people into not leaving I guess. But if you come to work here, sign it, and in a year get a better job offer... I would call you crazy if you didn't take it..

New hires at a 121 airline still must go through an initial course (not transition, not requal, not differences) at the new airline. What was the benefit that they were paying a grand for?
