I'm happy for the guys who live in a commutable base and/or really dream of working at Delta. It's a legitimate opportunity.
However, with them taking 144 pilots in 2015 and 180 in 2016, unless you are a very senior FO you will likely spend close to half a decade at 9E waiting to flow. (assuming you even pass the SSP). Especially with the re-interviews of the previously failed CA's mixed in, who will have priority if they pass round 2.

According to this, if accurate, Delta is expected to have 169 pilots retire in 2015.

If I get the Delta cjo that's great. I will stay until one of 2 happens I get a class date or another mainline offers me a class date. I'm not gonna leap frog from RJ to RJ carrier unless I know I have no future here. Plus it will reduce the stress of not knowing your plan B when the dust settles

If these numbers are correct, that would mean nearly all pilots hired at Delta in 2015 would be from 9E.

This is a good thing for everyone at 9E and I don't know how anyone can put a negative spin on this. However, I would caution anyone about the standards of the SSP......I interviewed after doing face-to-face prep, 4 year degree 4.0GPA, perfect attendance, no failures; was told not to come back. Have seen people with no college, criminal record, training failures, etc, get hired so who knows

When all other retention methods have failed, offer something to keep FOs on board for another 12-18 months. I truly hope it works out, but the pessimist in me says daddy DL will be looking for the ex-military or former 121/135/91 Captain type FOs.
DL forced 9E into bankruptcy by witholding payments and preventing payback of a loan with a ridiculous interest rate, implemented a concessionary contract, and shrunk the fleet. But now they decide to show some love? There has to be an ulterior motive.
Why would they want 9E FOs when 95% of street hires have demonstrated PIC and there are thousands more in line? Don't get me wrong- there are some solid FOs at 9E. I know from experience.
But best of luck to those FOs given the opportunity. Seriously.

Being at a wholly owned carrier is a terrible thing.. You are at the mercy of delta, AAG, etc. They can do with you what ever they like because they have a magical "flow" or "direct hire" program.. I hope it works out for you all. But delta is the WORST company to be "wholly owned" by..
