Back in the 1980's, Carl Icahn ordered a bunch of A330's and A340's -- which were still on the drawing board at that time -- to influence the TWA pilots into agreeing to a concessionary contract.

Did you ever see an Airbus widebody in TWA colors?

In 1998, Stephen Wolf ordered 300-400 Airbus aircraft -- "more airplanes than God can count", to fuel what he termed would be "turbo-growth" at US Airways, to goad those pilots into agreeing to a concessionary contract.

US Airways ended up with 17-year pilots on furlough, and 25-year F/O's.

It's the oldest trick in the book...
