What Hockey should have said was "use it as often as you
NEED it" which is what everyone did. It is used when your flight maintenance/wx cancels and there is NO chance of getting on your back up due to standbys......what part of that don't you get.
Look, the overwhelming commuters are responsible and conservative. Having a policy that allows us a break when crap hits the fan is a stress reducer, which is good safety/risk management. Why add the stress back in of knowing they are now "tracking you"?
Oh, and adding the flight attendants was just dump and asking for the program to fail. Having them show to work stressed is not as dangerous as having us stressed. Don't you think?
But, I've always been amazed that you have never seen the logic behind all this. You can shake your head in disgust that some people are like this, but I maintain that the "average guy" (not me and I have the FAILURE to commute letters to prove it) will call in sick vs call in stupid.
I no longer have a dog in this fight, I commute almost exclusively on Southwest and leave myself 2 backups. As far as move, your new pilot group (which was 5/7s your original size) mostly commute and YOUR company is adding more commuters every day. Having us commute is going to be VASTLY cheaper than moving us.
