I'd say seniority would be it. You never know what will happen, when hiring will stop. One class can be the difference between employed and furloughed, upgrading or getting stuck in the right seat for years on end, holding a line and having some semblance of quality of life or being stuck on reserve for years.
Extreme, probably but you never know.
A family member of mine dodged a 7 year furlough by 1 or 2 classes.
A part time instructor I worked with upgraded 2 years earlier than his friends in the class right behind him.
The airline industry is way too unpredictable, I would be on my way to MEM if I were you. ( not you etflies)
