The other new factor since our last section 6 is the obvious desire of the National Mediation Board to have total control over every aspect of labor relations in the entire industry. It seems the new way of doing things is that labor and management don't really negotiate with each other anymore but instead both sides negotiate with the NMB until we arrive at something that is acceptable to them.
The NMB has moved way beyond their traditional "mediation" role and are now basically dictating the terms of employment in the airline business.
There may be a backlash coming however. The flight attendant situation is so outrageous (not being allowed to vote no to unionization) that the Congress might be awakened.
