I've heard "He's a good dude" so often I'm convinced 90% of us are above average, great candidates.

The change is intended to shift hiring toward good pilots over the old good dude criteria.
I'll never understand why smart guys crack under the pressure of the hiring process. Do they underestimate the importance of their actions? To get ahead of other guys? Do they feel they must do it to make a few more dollars over their lifetime? I'm always surprised when I hear these stories. You really find out someone's true nature when they are under stress. A side of them you've never seen may emerge. I'm especially dismayed by how often I've seen it derail former mil guys.
There really is no way to justify these missteps. If you've gone thru life using this type of "skill" to get ahead now is the time to give it up. If you can.
