Your logic defies comprehension! So if the FAA says we should all fly 48 hour duty days and pick our nose and eat it to satisfy nutritional needs we should say "Thank-you mother. May I have another" ?!? News flash Bro' . . . the FAA is a political body and responds to political pressures.
First of all I am not your "Bro". Logic? You are arguing logic and you put forth something as absurd as the "48 hour duty day". Joe, those issues are contractual. This training is not a contractual issue. You are totally misunderstanding the process and the leverage the union has. Thanks to the f-ups that run ALPA we operate under the TRO. Not doing the training and causing flight disruptions will result in the courts being visited by UAL. With the record of wins versus loses for the ALPA legal staff I would not put great hopes in a win on their behalf. You are then left with a damages award and most likely assessments for us a pilot group.

Shutting down the World's Largest Airline because all it's pilots went NQ in protest of "UNSAFE TRAINING" represents political pressure.
The training is worthless and meaningless
You say it is worthless, meaningless and yet unsafe at the same time. Not sure it could actually be all of those at once. Do you want to sit in a classroom for 8 hours while someone reads the PMG to you? Take a day off out of your schedule to come to the airport and sit and listen to someone read to you? How many times in the past have I heard people complain that the classes we have had to attend could have been put on a dvd or CBT. They give it to you and now you want a class. Joe, sounds like you have trouble deciding what you want and you are just throwing darts at a board. Perhaps you might want to consider running for MEC office with that lack of direction!

Obviously I will be forced into accepting this nonsense because so many UAL pilots sympathize with your feelings
Hold to your guns Joe. Make your point and I will be sure to put my bill from ALPA in your mailbox. Perhaps the majority of the UAL pilots see this for what it is, that is ALPA trying to get a foothold in any manner possible no matter how absurd their position.

we have shown ZERO unity and concern for anything other than our own personal benefit.
On this I agree to some extent, but I lay the blame on the shoulders of ALPA for much of the divisiveness. They have botched the 70 seat RJ give away, lost our pensions, stovepiped us, agreed to the age 65 change and various other niceties. Remember when Wallach turned off trip trading and got nothing in return to turn it back on. With friends (ALPA) like that who needs enemies! The UA pilots have been kicked by ALPA too many times to follow them blindly.

My personal opinion is that the UA pilots that can think for themselves realize SCOPE is the number one issue facing us as a pilot group. The PMG stuff is a diversionary tactic by ALPA to take the heat off themselves on the lack of progress in negotiations.
