Having just come through the closest thing the industry has ever seen to a true "merger of equals" with ALPA vs. ALPA representation to boot, I'm sure you and most fDAL or fNWA pilots see no problem with relative seniority. What you seem to have a tough time understanding is that in the case of SWA-ATN, the demographics are very lopsided. Relative seniority would have a BIG affect on upgrade time when the average age of one pilot group is eight years younger than the other (guess which). Relative seniority would have a ten year SWA FO swinging gear for a six-year ATN captain. Maybe you and ALPA would be down with that, but SWA pilots most certainly would not. We stand to gain nothing from this acquisition except entry into the ATL, and the only tangible benefit most of us will realize from that is
maybe another percent or two in our annual profit sharing check.
