It was TWA, not Eastern. Several very good f.o.'s got fired under this up or out policy. One in particular had been a chief pilot up in Alaska before coming here, and got very sick during the upgrade process, even went into the hospital. They pushed him to hurry up and finish up before he was fully recovered and even though he didn't feel up to it agreed to come back sooner than the doctor recommended and they canned him...REAL NICE
Thank you for the clarification. I've only been here for 7 years so obviously what I repeated was word of mouth from several Check Airmen. They probably said TWA and I just thought Eastern because we have and have had several ex-Eastern pilots here in the past.
I'm glad the policies gone and I'm sorry guys and gals like “T-Dubba” fell victim. I've spent time with him and I can honestly say he's both a highly skilled pilot and a fantastic guy.
