However, we could very well have had some leverage with this situation. Why keep this stuff top secret? If the company did come to the MEC with an unacceptable offer, then just state it as such. Now the ball is in the company's court- you want 'em, you make it work. As it happened, it doesn't help the MECs image as a totalitarian rule.

My first thought when I heard about the 10 airframes was that the company was "fishing" for some concessions. The decision to accept/not accept the additional airframes was probably already made.
