Ok, I'm been silent lately on the age 60 thing until here but the "age bigot" thing is a little over the top.

Are you for lowering the age from 23 to 21 like the ICAO sees fit? ICAO allows for pilots age 21 to obtain ATPLs (Annex 1 - 2.5.1.1). SO UNLESS YOU only support legislation that will completely put us in line with ICAO rules, you sir are the bigot. I've heard all the repsonses, "well that's different, they're too young, they have no experience, etc.." Unless you can give me a truly valid reason why a 21 year old shouldn't be an ATP, your whole argument is full of crap. There is no reason that a person of that age can't be an airline capt that is any different than a reason that an age 65 person shouldn't. If you remember it was 18-25 year old pilots that ensured we're all not speaking German or Japaneese.

I would have far more respect for someone who only supports legislation that fully mirrors ICAO rather than only helps his/her position. Think the civil rights movement would have been ok with abolishing discrimination against African Americans but allowing it against Asians, Hispanics, etc? Don't think so.

As someone mentioned we have age 60+ flying into major airports everyday. Likewise we also have the 17 year old PPL with his instrument rating flying into those same airports. What is the difference? Absolutely nothing.

I haven’t seen one person saying that we’re discriminating against the youth. But that's ok since they haven't "earned" their seat (even if it is the right seat).
