you can make more if you work your ass off and have no life though.. The most I've "taken home" in a month after everything on 5th yr FO was $3500 and months like that aren't fun if you ask me.. It pretty much just sucks until you upgrade.. no way around it.
People will say they make 60K as an FO.. I'm sure it's been done but you will be at work ALL the time..
You can definitely make more than 1600 a month take home first year with out breaking your neck; I grossed 30K first year and after taxes saw about 25.5K. Proffer for the higher time four days if on reserve and able to hold them, if a line holder bid conflicts or drop your trips and pick up the ones you want. In your defense I did work a ton of OT the first six months on line however, after I learned how to trip trade effectively I didn't have to and made the same amount. You can take home between 21-2500 first year just boils down to how much you want to work.
Second year you can make up to 45 if you want and also depending on what equipment you are on (more likely on the jets).
