I haven't had a clip-on tie since I was about 9 years old. I've always thought they were slobby and unprofessional.
Now maybe I'll look into it (but I'll keep the real tie in my flight bag to tie off boxcutter wounds).
I've always worn a clip on tie as an airline pilot for this very reason. No one even knows it until I tell them, either. Plus it saves a precious minute or 2 in the morning.
