Default A new aviation school?

The following is a quote from John Allen, Director of Flight Standards, on the formation of a NATIONAL flight school basically.
I suppose this would closely resemble the Maritime/Merchant Marine Academies which produce professional Seamen for Commercial shipping among other professions.

An idea I want to explore is to partner with other
government agencies and the aviation community
on the creation of a U.S. National Aviation Academy
(USNAA). Pilot graduates would earn a bachelor’s
degree along with the pilot certificates and ratings
needed for an aviation career. Mechanic graduates
would earn an associate’s degree, plus an A&P
certificate. Funding would be provided through the
combined efforts of industry, labor, government,
private donors, and academia. Much like the U.S.
military service academies, standards for admittance
and completion would be rigorous.
