Talked with a regional captain up here in Minneapolis. He stated that the quality of their new hires was so low that training was washing out up to 50% of them. Apparently they haven't been briefed yet on your "flip-of-a-switch" analogy.

Likewise they can't fill their classes by any means, so today you've got a lot of regionals with Captains flying together because they're very short of First Officers. Time to implement SkyHigh's "Automated Airline".
